About Us

Established in 2004 by Susan and Charlie Yates, Tully Cross Farm has been a sport horse powerhouse from the beginning. Numerous Class I Irish stallions have stood here at the farm, including Abbeyleix Brian Boru RID, Pride of Gloster RID, and It's the Luck of the Irish RID. You will find horses bearing the Tully Cross prefix at some of the most prestigious events in the region in everything from dressage to eventing. Tully Cross horses have proven themselves outside of the arena as well and many can be found in the hunt field.

Susan Yates is an accomplished event rider with a keen eye for horseflesh. She comes from a diverse background, having competed in many different disciplines, including saddle seat, cutting, and more. Susan successfully competed through training level eventing and was a member of the United States Eventing Team as a groom.

Charlie Yates works as an immigration lawyer and kindly does many of the chores around the farm. Although he has ridden in the past, his primary passion is his flock of sheep.

Summer of 2014 saw the return of one of our former working students, Heather, in the new role of stable manager. This 2013 Penn State grad (BS in Animal Science, minor in Equine Science) came to us fresh off foaling out over ninety mares at Nandi Veterinary Associates. Heather has been orchestrating the revitalization of Tully Cross and is looking towards the future of the business.

Tully Cross has a long history of taking in working students. Are you interested in learning more about training, the industry, and about running a farm? Contact us!
